Re: Triathalon, Road Races and other training
Steve, I'm not sure if you already picked up your bib. I went over to Patriot Place today to do so. Number pickup was in the bottom of the CBS Scene building, entering from the outside. They're using the B-Tag timing system. T-shirt pickup was up the stairs and a little bit further down the plaza. There was a small street fair with stuff for kids, balloon animals, face painting, bounce houses, etc. Otherwise, it wasn't much of an "expo".
I'd never been to Patriot Place before. It's nice. I had a drink at CBS Scene to watch the end of the World Cup game. Then, I walked around and shopped in stores. I even walked down to the stores at the other end, to the Christmas Tree Shops and Bass Pro Shop. I'd never been in Bass Pro Shop before. There's an electronic shooting gallery and aquarium inside, and outside the back there's a small nature trail around a cranberry bog.
Have a good race tomorrow, if I don't otherwise see you there.

Re: Triathalon, Road Races and other training
It was well-run for an inaugural race, I thought. I'm now tempted to do the 7 mile Run Gloucester race in August, put on by the same company. http://www.rungloucester.com/ From scouting the day before, I saw that there would be a traffic backlog at the first entrance to Patriot Place, so I was able to avoid it by taking the second entrance and parking on the other side of the shopping center. I used my usual strategy of starting at the very back of the pack and working my way up. I saw Steve during the race, somewhere in the first two miles. The weather was very warm but it wasn't too bad, and my time was 1:03:03. Food after the race included protein bars, granola, potato chips, a few other types of chips, and bananas. I felt pretty good after the race and went for another 3.5 mile run afterward (down to the Bass Pro Shops nature trail and back). http://www.coolrunning.com/results/10/m ... set1.shtmlI actually saw Rob at the Expo the day before but didn't recognize him at the time. I was impressed with the stand he was using to hold his huge assortment of balloons.

Re: Triathalon, Road Races and other training
That was by far the most favorite race I've run since I started joining these things. The course was nice, the finish was awesome, it was neat seeing a couple of people from this site and I can't wait to run next year.
My offical time:
1 Hour, 5 minutes, 27 seconds.
Second best time for a 10k I've run.

Re: Triathalon, Road Races and other training
I just saw this on Screamscape. On October 3, 2010, there's a new half marathon that runs through Hersheypark. It features a chocolate aid station! Participants get an exclusive 3-hour visit to the park the night before. (The park is otherwise closed because the date falls between the regular and Halloween seasons.) I might have to consider this race. The race is during a week where I'm already scheduled to have a 12 mile long run, which would work out great. However, it also falls 2 weeks before my marathon, and I'm not sure if I should be exerting myself that much. And, it's a bit far. Quote: Welcome to the Inaugural Hershey Half Marathon, sponsored by Capital BlueCross. This race through Chocolate Town U.S.A will benefit Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Children’s Hospital. The course will take participants on a 13.1 mile tour of Hershey, PA with several memorable locations along the way including the World’s Largest Chocolate Factory, The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Factory, Chocolate Avenue and more!
Starting and ending at Hersheypark Stadium, participants will race 13.1 miles through Hersheypark and past cocoa-scented candy landmarks including Milton S. Hershey’s High Point Mansion, streetlights shaped like Hershey’s Kisses, and the largest chocolate factory in the world. Water/aid stations will be available approximately every 2 miles, including a unique Chocolate Aid station, to assist runners toward the finish line. Cash prizes will be awarded. All participants must be 14 and older.
Proceeds benefit Children’s Miracle Network which supports the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital by purchasing state-of-art equipment and supporting vital programs. All dollars raised locally stay local. Throughout the route, look for our Miracle Children from the Children’s Hospital as they cheer you on!
Fees: Individuals: $50 through August 15 $60 – August 16-September 15 $75 – after September 15 including Race Day Team Entry: 2 person relay $75 - through August 15 $85 – August 16-September 15 $100 – after September 15 including Race Day
Additional Information: Participants will also receive complimentary admission to Hersheypark the night before the race, with a large section of the park reserved exclusively for runners and family members.
Hersheypark Half-Park: Included in your registration fee is a special Hersheypark Half-Park, on Saturday, October 2 from 6:00- 9:00 PM. Many rides and attractions will be available for participants and families.
