Boulder Dash

Manufactured by Custom Coasters International
Installed in 2000

This completely unique 4,700 foot wooden roller coaster uses the Lake’s natural mountainous terrain, complete with trees and boulders within close proximity of the track. The lift climbs the mountainside and then disappears from view. When it reappears, it has completed its first drop of 115 feet and is traveling sixty miles per hour as it crosses over itself and flies over the station. Much of the first half of the ride is hidden as the train climbs and drops along the mountainside. A thrilling 180 degree turn drops and propels riders as fast as any point during the ride, ensuring the straight return to the station will be a thrill complete with speed and plenty of air time. On the last drop, photos of every rider are automatically taken. On-ride photos can be viewed and bought at the photo booth at the end of the exit line. Boulder Dash debuted in 2000 and in 2001 it was voted the world’s #1 wooden roller coaster by the National Amusement Park Historical Association and in 2004 it took the top spot in Amusement Today’s 2004 Golden Ticket Award Winners for Best Wood Coaster. It is the fastest, longest wooden coaster on the East Coast. Boulder Dash’s structure was built with Southern Yellow pine wood and the track was made of Douglas Fir wood.
