Wildcat
Designed by Herbert Schmeck and manufactured by Dinn Corporation
Installed in 1927
This classic woodie from 1927 is the Lake’s centerpiece, and is one of the world’s oldest operating roller coasters at the same location. With a first drop of only 78 feet, it’s still an enjoyable ride. The entire structure was rebuilt with new wood in 1985, and the last bunny hills were redone in 2004. In 2007, Wildcat’s brakes were upgraded to allow a two train operation. The secret to a smooth ride on Wildcat is to choose the middle row in any of the train’s three cars. You won’t be riding over an axle and your ride will be soooo enjoyable. Wildcat is a great coaster once you know the secret. If you don’t get your choice of seat, you can usually just stay in line and let other people go ahead of you. That way you’ll get your choice of seat for the next ride. Wait times aren’t usually long even though the coaster currently runs only one train.
